Ruined Choirs

Along Hilliard Road
at Rocky Ranch
as we go by every day,
we see trees dying,
see them die
them dead—
Live Oaks,
three,
more,
another — a corpse torqued,
scarring sky.

Daily we see
these dead oaks —
dry bones,
to make
us cry.
